Why can't record labels understand P2P?

We've always said that record labels don't understand the ways p2p could be used properly, for legal musiclinks purposes, yet they have never been quite this vocal in showing that they don't want it to happen.

Qtrax, a new service is promising that they will provide music freely to the masses by using an ad supported model. The fees paid to the labels and artists would be exactly the same as those you pay when you download a track of iTunes, but seemingly purely because it is a P2P system.

Honestly what do the record labels have to lose? They get their fees, more people get their music, they get MORE fees, so they will be making more money.... it shows their ignorance towards the basic concepts of p2p and upsets me that this continues in a world where every other industry is bravely embracing the online world. Tracks on the service would have to be DRMed however, which in this case is actually understandable

Check out Qtrax anyway.
