Warner Music chairman and CEO Edgar Bronfman Jr. boldy announced a new "e-label" division that eschews the album format and total label control. E-label artists
will release a pod of 3 songs every few months instead of a full CD every year or two. Artists will retain ownership and copyrights.
This is a fabulous move. Of course indies have been doing this for years and it's taken a major label a full decade to innovate. Still, change is inevitable.
