Vudu: More P2PTV
New cable set-top box maker provider Vudu will make available 5,000 major Hollywood movies this summer and use P2P for streaming HD quality distribution. Vudu has deals with every major studio except Sony at this time.

Vudu faces an increasingly crowded field with competition from various directions. Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple all now can send digital movies direct to TVs. P2PTV services Joost and Babelgum similarly use P2P streaming and are closing deals with major studios. Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple all recently launched new ways to deliver downloads to the TV. MovieBeam and Akimbo have their own set-top boxes for movie distribution.
