Another Bit Torrent web site was shut down (LA Times - Silicon Valley). What's new is the federal government now publicly spearheads such investigations.
As we've stated before in this column, this is a a civil, and not criminal, case. The entertainment industry has the resources to investigate and sue alleged pirates, and indeed has done so in the past.
Homeland Security Assistant Secretary
for Immigration and Customs Enforcement Michael J. Garcia made clear that Hollywood is calling the shots, "Internet pirates cost U.S. industry hundreds of billions of dollars in lost revenue every year." There are enemies of the state bombing and killing Americans. Inside our borders there are pedophiles abusing innocent young children. And Homeland Security and the FBI are devoting their resources to playing security guard for Hollywood?
I guess that gig pays better than that little terrorism thing.
