Think tank says copyright law is all wrong

F. Gregory Lastowka and Dan hunter of the Cato Institute write about copyright law in Amateur-to-Amateur: The Rise of a New Creative Culture. They argue that copyright law only encourages production when content is centralized. In today's high tech age of the Internet the content producers are the people and they only get hurt by such law.
From the Policy Analysis paper:
It is commonly said that copyright matters because it encourages the production of socially beneficial, culturally significant expressive content. Excessive focus on copyright law and policy, however, can obscure other information practices that also produce beneficial and useful expression. The functions that make up the creative cycle- creation, selection, production, dissemination, promotion, sale, and use of expressive content- have historically been carried out and controlled by centralized commercial actors. However, all of those functions are undergoing revolutionary decentralization and disintermediation.
Different aspects of information technology, notably the digitization of information, widespread computer ownership, the rise of the Internet, and the development of social networking software, threaten both the viability and the desirability of centralized control over the steps in the creative cycle. Those functions are being performed increasingly by individuals and disorganized, distributed groups.
This raises questions about copyright as the main regulatory force in creative information practices. Copyright law assumes a central control structure that applies less well to the creative content cycle with each passing year. Copyright law should be adjusted to recognize and embrace a distributed, decentralized creative cycle and the expanded marketplace of ideas it promises.
I think it is too. Because of the greedy AmeriCorporationica poor people are being sued. I believe file-sharing is not wrong and not stealing unless you make money off of it. I believe file-sharing copyright files should be legal if no profit is made from it. In preschool we are taught sharing is caring and all that s**t and now it’s illegal to share. How come we are taught to share yet it’s illegal to share.
This is America the king of freedoms yet people that protest peacefully get arrested. The constitution said Quality for all and all that jazz yet Blacks, Mexicans, and Women didn’t have equal rights as men, or whites back then, and now Middle Easterns are getting targeted cause of terrorism. Our country doesn’t even trust teens or it’s people
Our Country’s not following the constitution.
How can be call this country the land of the free when we have to fight all the time to not end up being punished. You call that freedom where people are getting constantly attacked by the police or the law.
Thats not freedom. Thats not freedom of assembly, and thats not freedom at all.
We need to stop the RIAA from taking away more rights.
We want America to be a free and democratic country, not a communism.
