Push technology developer Skinkers turned to Microsoft Research to co-develop its LiveStation P2P Internet broadcast technology.
LiveStation integrates Microsoft's new Silverlight platform. Silverlight is a cross-platform, cross-browser plug-in that delivers consistent experiences to both Mac and Windows users on a variety of browsers, including Internet Explorer, FireFox, and Safari. The LiveStation viewer can be embedded in a browser, downloaded from a web site, or distributed via physical media.
Skinkers has developed the Live Delivery Network from the results of the Microsoft collaboration. Live Delivery Network is an enterprise-class software environment designed to support P2P applications. LiveStation is the first product for the Live Delivery Network.
