Ripping CDs is still illegal, apparently.

The good ol' RIAA has come out in yet another breif stating that any MP3 files, even those ripped from their own personal CDs, are classed as "unauthorized copies". These so called "unauthorized copies" may be the only way to get some music onto our MP3 players, as in case you didn't know, not every song in the world is available for digital download, and face it, who exactly is going to rebuy an album in digital format, just to put on your MP3 player? The whole situation is maddness of the highest degree.

I can't quite comprehend how they have come to this decision, but read a bit more over at Ars.
