New Zealand-based HireThings has created an Ebay-like marketplace for short-term rentals. At this time it only covers New Zealand locations.
A survey at the site shows a wide variety of items for rent – Maxtone steel string acoustic guitar, Medium truck (15 cubic metres), Philips 32" LCD TV, Lawn Edger, GlobalSat BT-328 Bluetooth GPS receiver, and Lion / Wizard of Oz costume. Categories include services like bands and real estate, most anything that can be booked.
HireThings has a sliding price scale with rates of 1-5% of the booking with a minimum fee of $0.50 and maximum of $100.
