Music Sales down 21% for Christmas
Filed in archive Analysis by Jordan Grodecki on January 8, 2008

In a statistic that is sure to please the RIAA, music sales over the previous Christmas are down a whopping 21% on last year. In the runup to Christmas, 83.9 million albums were sold this year, which in all honesty is still a pretty hefty amount, but when compared to 2006 it kind of pales in comparison... a massive 105.28 million were sold in the same time period before.
Prehaps people are giving their kids iTunes vouchers now? Or maybe there just isn't very much good music This Christmas
time, what parent would really want to buy their child some swear filled rap album? I know my parents certainly wouldn't buy me things like that. The RIAA are sure to put some spin on it saying we are all downloading music and burning CDs as christmas gifts in the near future, but you know, we just tend to ignore them these days.
