A Dutch court has ordered Mininova to remove all copyright-infriginging files from its site or face fines of up to €5 million.
"Dutch-based pro-copyright lobby group Stichting Brein, which recently took aim at The Pirate Bay's operations, brought the lawsuit against Mininova," writes The Register's Kelly Fiveash. "The Utrecht District Court ruled today in favour of Stichting Brein, which accused Mininova of inciting users to violate copyrights and profiting from infringement by running ads on the site."
"Mininova took measures to remove torrents that link to copyrighted content from its site by deploying a content recognition system in May," writes Technologizer's David Worthington. "That was not enough to appease the judge, who ruled that Mininova had to do more to prevent piracy - even though it was not directly responsible."
"You get the feeling that the era of BitTorrent as we know it is about to end, don't you?" writes CrunchGear's Nicholas Deleon.
