IFPI Sues 8,000 World Music Fans
In its most ambitious action yet against consumer P2P copyright infringement, IFPI, RIAA's international counterpart, has sued 8,000 more people across the world.

IFPI is spreading its message of love to several new countries, including Brazil, Mexico, and Poland. IFPI has sued individuals in 17 countries - Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, icelandlinks, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Singapore and Switzerland.

IFPI has brought suits against a total of 13,000 people now. It claims 2,300 people has paid up with an average settlement of 2,420 EUR or 3,055 USD. That's almost a 50% settlement rate of previous suits. The suits have generated $7 million US. There still is no word on what, if any, portion of the proceeds are distributed to artists.
