The Carbon Project has created a P2P application called Gaia 3 for location-based information. The P2P architecture is used to enable survivability in case any or a few P2P nodes go down. gaia 3 enambles user to create and share environmental incident information.
Gaia 3/IR is a free platform and is built on Microsoft .NET Framework. The software works with National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Framework Data. Open Geospatial Consortium, Inc. (OGC) Web Map and Web Feature Services (WMS and WFS), OGC GML, Microsoft Virtual Earth, Google Earth KML, and ESRI Shapefiles.
