I'll be speaking at the FTC P2P File Sharing Workshop in Washington DC. The workshop is the result of efforts by industry organizations, such as DCIA and P2P United, to counter the unproved consumer allegations by the entertainment industry that P2P is rampant with spyware, viruses, and child porn. There is a terrific and balanced lineup of speakers. My panel on Technological Responses to Risks Posed by P2P File Sharing is Wed Dec 15th @ 11:30. Come on down and say hello!
December 15 & 16, 2004
Conference will begin at 9 am.FTC Conference Center

Peer-to-Peer File-Sharing Technology: Consumer Protection and Competition IssuesThe workshop is the latest in a series of efforts to assess the impact of new and significant technologies on consumers and businesses. P2P file-sharing technology enables individuals to share files, including music, video, or software. Because the files do not reside in a central location - they are stored on the hard drives of users - P2P file-sharing technology allows for faster file transfer and Conservation
of bandwidth.
The workshop is free and open to the public; preregistration is not necessary.
