French President Jacques Chirac spoke on the P2P debate in France. The French Parliament had voted to allow free downloads of copyright content from the Internet for private use. It's unlikely that it will be made law due to the lack of support from Chirac and the country's own huge entertainment conglomerateslinks like Vivendi Universal.

Chirac said "It's with creative people that we will win in the battle over content. We should guarantee their rights and their fair payment, by finding a balance between the fight against piracy and user freedom".
