DVD Piracy still on a high

DVD Piracy still on a high

A new study, by Furturesource Consulting has shed some light on how piracy is going in the film industry; and it's bad news for the big wigs.

A third of all people surveyed admitted to making copies of dvds, saying in the last year they pirated up to 12 films….

Many people are saying that they would buy dvds if they could not copy them…just the sort of evidence the industry needs to pin needless drm upon us… read it all at zeropaid.

One Response to “DVD Piracy still on a high”

  1. dvd copy says:

This is about the most biased report I have ever seen – a shameless attempt by Macrovision to drum up more DRM revenues from Hollywood. The irony is that the few consumers that take the time to rent, rip and return are actually driving Hollywood’s rental licensing revenues…most of these people are copying for their own non-profit personal use, and would not rent if they couldn’t rip.

There seems to be no middle ground between a fair business model and the consumer’s fair use rights. The copyright holders need to be protected, but it’s not fair that consumers have to pay multiple times for the same content. You should be able to pay for one movie one time and be able to watch it’s on all different formats and devices. We should NOT have to pay multiple times for DVD, HD DVD Blu-Ray, iPod, PSP, mobile phones, etc. etc. Until a fair business model is developed, there will always be DVD copy software programs out there like 1 Click DVD Copy and DVDneXtCopy that enable users to rip, convert, burn and copy DVD movies. BTW, all the best DVD best burning programs are listed, ranked, reviewed and compared side-by-side at: http://www.dvdxcopy.com
