DigitalContainers Holds Patents
DigitalContainers Inc. was awarded Patent 7,251,832 for a "Secure Streaming Container." The patent facilitates secure playback of any kind of digital media.

The company has been an active advocate of superdistribution, which enables files to be published, stored and shared across a variety of networks, including the web, P2P, social networks, IM, and email.

DigitalContainers has previous patents for "Regulating Access to digital content," "Tracking Electronic Content," and "Delivering Electronic Content." DigitalContainers is building a comprehensive IP portfolio to deliver, protect, track, authorize, and monetize all types of digital goods.

DigitalContainers says there is widespread consumer support for superdistribution. A national survey by Sharpe Patners found that almost 90% of adult Internet users shared content with 60% of people sharing files at least once a week and 25% at least a few times a week.
