Michael Robertson has unveiled his master plan.
If Apple is going to be beat, it is not through YAOMS (Yet Another Online Music Store), a relic of the old days when records were vinyl, retail meant stores, and the labels played god. The game would have to be changed, much as it was when Apple designed their YAOMS (iTunes) as a promotional engine for their music player.
The successor would have to take online music to the next level. And that's what Michael Robertson has done with the MP3combo. MP3combo starts with the iCombo razor blade business model. It integrates one of the next big things - the digital home. It initially keeps its distance away from the iJuggernaut by focusing on the home, not mobility. And for the trifecta MP3combo actually is P2P-friendly and respects and doesn't Insult the consumer (novel concept!).
The strategy is not another me-too concept but unique and innovative with definite potential to score big.
Michael, when you're ready to fully embrace P2P give me a call.
