The IFPI has just released it's report for music sales through 2007, and it is showing massive gains for the sales of digital music, up a massive 40% on the last year. Countries like the US are now downloading 30% of their music online whereas in places like South Korea the figure is 60%. These stats are really showing how the world is embracing the digital music revolution.
Unfortunatly music sales overall are down 10%, which the IFPI, as expected, blaims on piracy. It does assume however, that every illegal download would be a legal one, if the ability to pirate music was completely removed, and uses this statistic to show it's massive "losses" to piracy and further the argument against filesharers.
Nothing unexpected then.
