Choosy Italians Prefer P2P and the Mule
Italian researchers surveyed the country's consumers to study the relationship between P2P and CD sales. They found that only a minority of file sharers, 30 percent, reduced CD purchases, while another 6 percent actually bought more. The decline in CD purchasing habits however is likely similar to that of overall Internet users.

A whopping 77 percent of Italians in the survey admitted to using P2P software, compared to 23 percent using paid services like iTunes. Italians preferred emule, which garnered 51 percent of P2P users. Next were WinMX (25 percent) and Kazaa (13 percent).
