The Missouri University of Science and Technology has taken a new and interesting approach to dealing with copyright infringement for students living on campus; up to 8 times a month, for 6 hour periods each time, students can use p2p software without fear of being blocked. However, they can only do this if they get 100% on a copyright test which consists of questions about what is lawful and what is not.
It's definitely an intersting apporach, and with punishments for DMCA notices involving 2 weeks no internet, and 28 days community service, it is definitely working; there has been a 90% drop in takedown notices to the university...
Perhaps something for other places to try?
