"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Freedom of Speech Week is October 16-22. The event was created by The Media Institute and launched in 2005 with the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation. So basically it was started to avoid TV censorship. The current U.S. Administration and the FCC aren't quite on board. But no one said freedom fighting was easy. In any case, I fully support the cause and hope you will to.
Scan their partnering organizations. Where are the People? The EFF isn't there. No ACLU
. The group is made up of th media and their lackeys - attorneys, advertisers, newspaper publishers, TV and radio broadcasters, and photographers. Everyone wanting to protect their turf. As always, buyer beware. The freedom they want to protect is theirs, not necessarily yours. The objective is profits and maintaining their business, not preserving consumer rights.
Our friends at RIAA are a sponsoring member. They want to continue selling records with naughty words. That is commendable. But don't confuse their right to distribute music of any kind with any supposed rights you think you might have to copy, preview, or share said music ... even if purchased.
