38% paid for In Rainbows

radioheadlinks took a risk with their distribution method for In Rainbows, their latest record; they let you, the buyer choose how much you wanted to pay, or, not pay, as the case may be.

The data comes from Comscore, a company who have 2 million people volunteering to let their internet activity be monitored and has found that a total of 38% of people who downloaded the record, paid for it. Representitives mentioned on Zeropaid say this implies that users want digital music to be free because of the less-than-half percentage, but I don't agree, I think that it speaks a lot for the market that 38% paid, esspecially seeing as they could have got it for free. It also doesn't take into account how many people only downloaded the album because of the distribution method, which I reckon is a fair few million.

Oh well.
